法新社報導，數以百萬計敘利亞人被迫進入中東各地的難民營，數萬人徒步跋涉歐洲，數百人葬身大海、被沖上沙灘，美國卻只答應明年接納1萬難民。
華府是中東地區最大的人道捐助者，為結束敘利亞政治危機發動外交行動，還領導聯軍，進行鎖定「伊斯蘭國」（IS）聖戰組織的轟炸行動。
但過去曾接納30多萬越南人、每年接收7萬名世界各地難民的美國，卻不太樂意接受敘利亞人，2011年以來，僅接納不到1800人。
「美國樂施會」（Oxfam America）副會長歐布賴恩（Paul O'Brien）表示：「這件事很快地成了歐巴馬政府會留給後代的遺留問題。」
「1萬人這個數字，基本上我們在睡覺的時候就可以做到。」
多個援助組織今天在記者會上表示，媒體披露3歲小男孩亞藍（Aylan Kurdi）伏屍海灘的照片之後，民間情緒高漲，募款數量隨之大增；但若各國不接納更多來自土耳其、黎巴嫩、約旦與伊拉克的難民家庭，第一線人道工作者的壓力只會越來越大。
歐洲政府難以在協調安置計畫上達成共識，一度由美國扛起的人道工作，出現了斷層。
拯救兒童基金會（Save the Children）執行長邁爾斯（Carolyn Miles）表示，「我們在現場的組織已經用盡全力」，敦促世界領袖趁本月聯合國大會之便，重新尋求政治解決方案。
援助組織認為，美國若透過更大規模的安置計畫展現領導風範，有助於鼓舞歐洲強國。
